As India is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, poverty is on the decline in the country. Yet, the challenges remain and India's economic success has not resulted in improved quality of life for everyone everywhere, especially the children. Children in the rural areas, slums, and poor households have suffered from multiple deprivations related to poverty, malnutrition, access to quality health care services, access to proper education, lack of sanitation facilities, and access to improved water facilities. NLWM tries to address these needs through programs such as child care, health care, and education. 

 India is paramount as a rural country with a two-third population residing in rural areas. NLWM attempts to address issues such as the lack of development of infrastructure, reduction of poverty, development of health facilities, productive resources, and human resources. It implimates its objectives through provision of skill training, creating employment opportunities and increasing rural economy.
